Green Oscars distributed
The prestigious European EMAS Awards, popularly known as the Green Oscars, have been handed out. Established by the European Commission, these Awards are granted for the best action to benefit the environment. The theme for the 2017 edition of the EMAS Awards was Contributing to making the European economy more circular, which involves an integrated approach to making products and processes more sustainable. The objective of the circular economy is to sustain economic resources as long as possible, at the same time minimising the volume of waste.
The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk (Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej w Gdańsku) has been nominated in the Public organisations category as one of those institutions which took major efforts and initiatives aimed at transforming the European economy into a circular economy and may be an inspiration for others.
